You Cannot Know the Hour -- a one-act play
Katrina Wood's "You Cannot Know the Hour" is based on fact and fiction across the ages. A psychological thriller in which victim and perpetrator walk a thin line between fantasy and reality. Who is telling the truth? The audience will decide, perhaps. ...

"This is a really wonderfully written spooky psychological mind game," says NoHoArtsDistrict.com.

Mr. Brown is a grumpy, peevish, ailing, aging man. A widower, he has a housekeeper to keep his home running smoothly. One day, Brown finds that a nurse has been engaged to look after him.

He frequently sees and speaks with the ghost of his wife. She rebukes him for terrible crimes of his past. He responds by proclaiming his innocence.

Meanwhile, he finds himself at odds with his nurse. She frequently contradicts his instructions, almost gleefully. Is she pursuing a sinister hidden agenda? If so, what is her objective?

Is Mr. Brown irredeemably evil, or is he unfairly accused?

This one-act play should appeal to those who appreciate the work of Agatha Christie, Alfred Hitchcock, P.D. James, Edgar Allen Poe, and Powell & Pressburger.

In the lead role of Mr. Brown is Raquis DaJuan Petree, a stage and film actor with a long list of credits. The eerie and compelling role of the Nurse is brought to life by Tanya Laine.

CONTENT ADVISORY: "You Cannot Know the Hour" is for mature audiences. It addresses sexual assault allegations whose detail may be disturbing to some audience members.

REVIEWS:

"This is a really wonderfully written spooky psychological mind game, full of unresolved darkness and strange twists and turns. ... I have to say I absolutely loved it. ... The performances were also brilliant. Raquis DaJuan Petree as Mr Brown gave him a sinister desperation and I'm still not certain if he was a bad guy or not. Tanya Laine is the nurse and she is creepy and delightfully unhinged. Thea Lux is the dead wife who enters via the audience for the ultimate scare. Jennifer Skiffington rounds out the cast as (the Other)." -- NoHoArtsDistrict.com

"it's a stage performance that is rather tight and fulfilling. ... Trace Oakley directs this production that first appears predictable, only to let that predictability lose that notion where its final results are not what they seem to be." -- Accessibility Live

"A fine performance by Raquis Petree!" -- Theaterbites podcast
